Privacy Policy – RollSearch

Last updated: June 2, 2026

1. Our Privacy Commitment Your privacy is the core principle of RollSearch. We are engineered from the ground up as a privacy-first utility. We do not require user accounts, and the developer does not collect, store, transmit, or have any access to your personal data, photos, videos, or filenames.

2. Content Processing and Storage (On-Device) RollSearch acts exclusively as a bridge and search engine for your existing Apple Photos library. All indexing and search operations occur entirely on your physical device.

  • Data Stored Locally: RollSearch builds a secure, local database (index) containing only the original filenames, creation dates, and local system identifiers of your media to enable lightning-fast search.

  • App Preferences: Your chosen settings and local UI configurations.

  • Data Deletion & Device Backups: You have full control over your data. Deleting the RollSearch app from your device instantly removes the local filename search index.

Please note: Actions you take within RollSearch (such as Favoriting, adding to an Album, or Trashing a file) directly modify your native Apple Photos library. Therefore, your actual photos and videos remain safely backed up according to your personal iOS iCloud settings.

3. Photo Indexing & Processing RollSearch utilizes your iPhone’s native processing power to index and route your files securely.

  • Local Indexing: RollSearch uses Apple’s native PhotoKit framework to read original filenames. We, the developers, never collect, receive, or have access to your photo library or your filenames.

  • Native File Routing: When you use RollSearch to Share, Favorite, add to an Album, or Delete a file, those actions are processed securely through Apple's system-level APIs. Your photos and videos are never sent to any external servers, third-party cloud providers, or the developer.

4. Data Collection Policy (What We Do Not Collect) In compliance with App Store Review guidelines, RollSearch confirms that we do not collect any user data for our own use. Specifically:

  • We do not collect data for analytics, advertising, tracking, or marketing purposes.

  • We do not sell or share your personal data with any third party.

  • We do not upload your photos, videos, or search queries to any external servers.

5. In-App Purchases and Third-Party Services (Data Processors) RollSearch offers a “Premium” lifetime unlock. To manage purchase entitlements securely, we use RevenueCat.

  • Processor: Apple App Store * Data Handled: Financial details and billing data.

    • Data We Receive: None. We do not receive, process, or have access to your payment methods or credit card details.

  • Processor: RevenueCat

    • Data Handled: Anonymous App Store receipt data, purchase status, and a randomized, non-personal user ID.

    • Data We Receive: The app uses only entitlement status to unlock features; RevenueCat processes receipt and purchase metadata as described in its privacy policy.

6. System Permissions and Diagnostics To provide its core functionality, RollSearch requires specific device permissions:

  • Photo Library Access (Read & Write): Requested exclusively to read filenames for the search index, and to allow you to actively route files (e.g., Favorite, transport to the RollSearch album, or trigger the iOS delete prompt) directly from the app.

  • Diagnostics: RollSearch does not use any third-party crash reporting SDKs (like Firebase or Crashlytics). If you have opted-in at the iOS system level to share crash diagnostics with developers, we may receive anonymized crash logs directly through Apple’s developer tools. These logs contain no personal data, filenames, or media content.

7. Your Rights and Contact Information

  • Control Over Your Data: You retain absolute ownership of your photo library. RollSearch cannot silently delete your photos; tapping the Trash icon will always trigger the native, secure Apple iOS deletion confirmation prompt.

  • Children’s Privacy: RollSearch is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from them.

  • Policy Updates: We may update this policy occasionally to reflect new features. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this policy if we do.
