Privacy Policy – LocalMemoLast updated: May 5, 2026
1. Our Privacy Commitment Your privacy is the core principle of LocalMemo. We are engineered from the ground up as a privacy-first utility. We do not require user accounts, and the developer does not collect, store, or have any access to your personal data, audio recordings, or dictated notes.
2. Content Processing and Storage (On-Device) All dictated content and notes created within LocalMemo are processed and stored exclusively on your physical device using secure, local system storage.
Data Stored Locally: The text transcripts of your voice notes and their final AI-structured formatting.
Item Metadata: Creation dates, deletion statuses (Trash), and note titles.
App Preferences: Your chosen settings and local UI configurations.
Data Deletion & Device Backups: You have full control over your data. You can permanently delete items from the in-app Trash at any time. Deleting the LocalMemo app from your device removes all local app data. Please note: If you have enabled system-wide iCloud Device Backups on your iPhone, an encrypted backup of your device’s local data may remain in your personal iCloud account until that backup is overwritten or deleted by you.
3. Dictation & AI Processing LocalMemo utilizes your iPhone’s native processing power to transcribe and format your spoken thoughts securely.
Speech Recognition (Transcription): LocalMemo uses Apple’s native iOS Speech framework to convert your audio into text. We, the developers, never collect, receive, or have access to your audio files or transcripts. Please note that depending on your iPhone model and system settings, iOS may process this audio locally or securely through Apple's dictation services in accordance with Apple's system-level privacy policy.
Local AI Processing (Formatting & Chat): LocalMemo utilizes Apple’s cutting-edge, on-device Foundation Models framework to structure your text and power the in-app AI Chat. When you ask the chat a question about your notes, the search and response generation happen 100% locally via your device’s Neural Engine. Your unstructured thoughts, text queries, chat history, and summaries are never sent to any cloud AI providers or the developer.
4. Data Collection Policy (What We Do Not Collect) In compliance with App Store Review guidelines, LocalMemo confirms that we do not collect any user data for our own use. Specifically:
We do not collect data for analytics, advertising, tracking, or marketing purposes.
We do not sell or share your personal data with any third party.
We do not upload your audio or notes to any external servers.
While we require microphone access to function, we only capture audio when you explicitly tap to initiate a dictation session. We do not listen to or record background audio.
5. In-App Purchases and Third-Party Services (Data Processors) LocalMemo offers a “Premium” subscription. To manage purchase entitlements securely, we use RevenueCat.

6. System Permissions and Diagnostics To provide its core functionality, LocalMemo requires specific device permissions:
Microphone: Requested exclusively to record your voice notes while you are actively dictating.
Speech Recognition: Requested to securely convert your spoken audio into text using Apple’s native transcription framework.
Diagnostics: LocalMemo does not use any third-party crash reporting SDKs (like Firebase or Crashlytics). If you have opted-in at the iOS system level to share crash diagnostics with developers, we may receive anonymized crash logs directly through Apple’s developer tools. These logs contain no personal data, audio, or note content.
7. Your Rights and Contact Information
