The Hybrid Approach 🥁

When I produce music, I often use a hybrid workflow.

I lock the kick and snare to the grid to create the foundation of the song. They act as the Machine, landing exactly where expected, every time.

Then, I play the hi-hats live.

This introduces the Human element. It brings a natural, randomized feel to the groove, even when it is captured as a loop.

It is the perfect combination: The stability of the machine and the swing of the human.
